In Sierra Leone we work together with Village Hope. Village Hope works to reduce poverty in rural areas of Sierra Leone by creating trained farmers who grow high-quality organic produce and earn a steady income. Together, we have set up the production of the region’s first superior quality cocoa. A region that until now was known for low quality cocoa.
Together with the farmers, we have worked on building and setting up central fermentation and drying, which has resulted in a huge improvement in quality. The genetic background of the indigenous cocoa is Trinitario cocoa from the Caribe, an absolute fine flavour cocoa. Which, thanks to the quality and process improvements, you can now actually taste!
